Fashionable Tech: Fabrikk UK created a LED cork bag

Cork is a material I’ve been mentioning often: This vegan, fully sustainable and unique looking fabric has taken over my wardrobe, and when people ask about my blog, I hand them over my cork wallet, just to show them an example to vegan fashion really is. Not only does this material (and other materials, too) blows their mind, but it also makes them think more and learn about vegan fashion. That’s why I always love looking for the coolest, most innovative brands out there: I love people’s reactions and love showing people that vegan fashion is more amazing than they would’ve imagined.

One evening, when I was scrolling through my Instagram feed, I saw a bag, and a light hit me! Nope, it is not the light you are thinking of. It was LED light. Yes, you are reading correctly: Fabrikk UK added LED illuminating material inside their bags, that blew my mind!

The Brand was founded by the lovely Kate, whom I met during my recent visit to London. She was so nice and we had a lovely conversation about vegan fashion, fashion tech innovations, and her brand.

Vegan Fashion-Tech: The Vela Bag By Fabrikk UK

The Vela handbag was the item that caught my eye, and how could it not: it is a beautiful cross-body bag made with multi-colored cork. The surprising part is on the inside: the bag features the latest technology in luxury LED illuminating materials inside, so you can forget about struggling to find your keys in the dark! The brand offers multiple light options, to be suited for your personal taste.

Inspired by the emerging world of new tech materials, the Vela’s internal lining material automatically (!) switches on when the bag is opened and gives off an attractive subtle glow for assisted vision at night. Just make sure you’re not opening it on a boring lecture when the lights are dimmed 😉

I’ve used my Fabbrik UK Vela bag multiple times and enjoyed it, especially during the evening: the size of the bag is small to medium, and would fit your absolute essentials. I found the LED lighting feature to be handy when being outdoors during the night and loved the secured closure and structure of the bag. The front pocket is excellent for easily accessing your phone or keys and the overall look of the bag is suitable for my spring-summer wardrobe. The natural color of the cork, mixed with the multi-colored flecks make it easily wearable with most of the items in my wardrobe. I really like pairing it with white, to give the bag all the attention it deserves.

Matchy-Matchy: Fabrikk UK’s Cork Beret

To complement their bags, Fabrikk UK also produces a range of cork flat caps, baker boys and baseball caps all handmade in Yorkshire (home of the flat cap!) and a collection of small cork accessories. If you read my blog long enough, you know I’m obsessed with berets and wear them constantly during the colder months. This cork Beret completes the outfit and gives a unique, sophisticated vibe to the look.
