London: the home of hundreds of vegan restaurants, countless vegan-friendly options in supermarkets and an ever-growing number of vegan brands. One of them, that you’ve probably heard about before, is LaBante London, which is one of the leading UK-based vegan brands.
I came across this brand not so long after I started blogging and it has always been on my wishlist- as their ethics are just incredible! That’s why, I was more than happy when Vanita, the founder of LaBante, reached out and offered to collaborate- I feel like our ethics tie perfectly together, so let me introduce you to this stunning brand.
Vanita has been a fashion-lover since childhood. “I spent many happy hours in my uncle’s fashion company, watching the creation of beautiful garments for big-name fashion brands and therein started my love of fashion”. After an eye-opening moment at the butcher’s shop, where animals were kept alive and caged before being killed in front of customers for their meat, she decided to become a vegetarian.
While she was working in banking in the US, the thought of doing something with her passion for fashion and vegetarianism kept running in her head: “I believed there was a gap in the fashion industry to make high-quality products that were not only beautiful and vied for, but were also cruelty free and sustainable at the same time being accessible”.
Started in 2012 as a small brand with big dreams, LaBante has grown and evolved as the years went by thanks to the demand for their quality, beautiful, chic designs from animal-loving fashionistas all around the world. Wondering why LaBante so good? let me tell you!
Respect For Animals
100% Cruelty-Free & Vegan
“No animal needs to be killed to enjoy luxurious fashion”.
In its very core, LaBante was born from the love and compassion to animals. LaBante wants to prove the world that there’s no need to be cruel to be beautiful- each of LaBante’s collections is made from beautiful recycled fabrics, like fine vegan leather made of high-quality Polyethene, microfibre and recycled vegetable fibres, and no animal-based dyes and glues are used in our manufacturing process. The brand is Peta-approved vegan, assuring that the brand’s products will always be completely vegan and cruelty-free.
Respect For The Planet
Eco-Friendly & Sustainable
“Landfills occupy 55% of our planet. So, we only use recycled materials in our handbags, we have already saved 10 million bottles from hitting the landfills”.
At LaBante London sustainability is taken very seriously. Their contribution towards a better planet is reducing plastic ending up in our oceans is by using recycled polyester (rPET) for the interior in all their handbags instead of using new fabrics and prevents more plastic from being dumped into landfills and oceans. They also use recycled fabrics for their dust bags, their tags are recycled as well as recyclable and they have a zero-waste packaging system.
Respect For People
Ethically-Made, Fair and Transparent
“our founder and design team regularly visit our factories to perform spot checks and social audits as part of our due diligence processes, to ensure the products continue to be made in a safe and ethical environment”.
LaBante manufactures in Guangzhou, China in a sweatshop-free environment, ensuring fair wages to all their workers. “We love our workers – so we also ensure that our seamstresses also get maternity cover when they decide to have children. Their well being is important to us so we only work with factories that have SEDEX certification. In addition, our founder and design team regularly visit our factories to perform spot checks and social audits as part of our due diligence processes, to ensure the products continue to be made in a safe and ethical environment and, we continually check payroll, attendance sheets, so no working double shifts, something that we are very proud of.
Women Empowerment
LaBante is run by women, for women: they are committed to empowering women worldwide, which is why our design and production team is 99% women
Giving Back
“The world will grow more prosperous if people shared what little they have rather than hoard everything for themselves.”
(Vanita Badlani Bagri,LaBante London Founder)
Another amazing reason to support this amazing brand: LaBante donates 10% of their profits to charity, and are trying to raise awareness and support various charities every season. How I Styled My LaBante London Bags
The Kensington Nude Cross-Body Bag
My bags arrived within 3 days in their cute recycled dustbags. When I unboxed my LaBante delivery in my IG story, The Kensington bag was your favorite: it matches its name perfectly: it’s luxurious and classy, and I can definitely imagine it worn a true Duchess. I love its striking double gold chain strap and V-shaped quilting (V for vegan, of course!). It instantly upgrades any outfit- even a casual t-shirt and jeans look much more stylish and put together, thanks to the bag’s special touch of elegance.
I wore my Kensington bag with a Pink skirt to match with the bag, simple white blouse from AMADI, a stunning pair of vegan heels from
The Gwen Nude Tote Bag
The Gwen tote bag is the bag that made me fall in love with LaBante: I’ve been eyeing it for so long and it has always been on my wishlist, so I was super excited to have my hands on it! It’s so unique and outstanding: its quilting makes give it so much more character and its color is a perfect neutral that will work with many outfits and suits my color palette perfectly.
The bag has two internal compartments separated with a middle zip compartment, and you need to prepare to be surprised with the beautiful contrasting interior ( I mean… it says “made with love” on the inside, come on! could it be more perfect?)- LaBante has really put the effort and thought into every small detail and I highly appreciate it.
This bag can easily fit all my
